FAQ

I'm doing wardrobe for a show.  Can we rent/buy from you?

Yep!  Our warehouse is down the street from all of the studios in Greenpoint.  We love working with wardrobe folks and have outfitted some of the best shows and movies being filmed in NYC.  We offer different tiers of service depending on your budget so get in touch to let us know what you have in mind and we'll let you know how we can help.  We know wardrobe folks have specific needs and challenges and we're here to make your job as easy as possible.

I own a vintage business. Why should I buy wholesale?

We’re a one-stop shop. We can help you stock up on a ton of inventory in a single visit. Think of all the time you’ll save to focus on other aspects of your business. We all love road trips to random estate sales and thrift stores, but they don’t always represent good value for money or time. We save you lots of both.

Can I make an appointment?

Absolutely. We love appointments. [Email us at dustyrosevintage@gmail.com to set one up] During our open public hours our minimum to get wholesale prices is $400.  If you want to come during our private hours we also require a deposit.

Do you ship orders?

Yes, we’re very happy pull inventory and arrange shipping for established businesses.  But restrictions and purchase minimums apply, so contact us for details. [dustyrosevintage@gmail.com]

Why are some things so much cheaper than others?

Just as current merchandise from Barney’s won’t be the same price as stuff from Forever 21 in twenty years, not all vintage was created equal.  Some was higher end at the time, some has become more coveted or collectible, more rare, etc.  It’s as simple as that.

Where does your inventory come from?

We purchase in many different ways, but mainly from large facilities that process used clothing.  We buy from all over North and South America to make sure we get a diverse selection of inventory.

Why are you only open to the public on select days?

The other days are for private appointments, purchasing and processing inventory.

Will other buyers “buy all the good stuff”?

While, sure, there are certain items that everyone wants, customer’s tastes are wildly more unique than that. At any establishment where goods are being sold, someone else has seen something before you.  And someone will buy something after you passed it up.  That’s just how it is.

Will the public buy “all the good stuff?”

No.  The warehouse is filled with over 300 categories of clothing and accessories.  People who are personal shopping not only will go through about 1/100th of these categories, but they’re also not likely to dig all the way to the bottom of the bin.  They don’t shop with the same gusto as buyers in search of inventory.  Seriously.  There is zero need to worry about it.

Does your better stuff get sold retail?

Sometimes. Some of our more special stuff gets sold at retail prices. Doing this allows us to keep our wholesale prices low. All wholesalers have some inventory that is sold at significantly higher prices. If they say they don’t, they’re not telling the truth. We are transparent.  Also, sometimes we buy pieces at prices higher than we could wholesale them for, because we love them and want to offer them to our customers.  But it’s important to note that what we define as “better” might not be the same as what you would, so you can expect to find your own personal version of gold in our bins.   This truth is evidenced by the squeals of delight we regularly hear from people digging through our inventory.

How can I tell the difference between retail and wholesale in your warehouse?

If it has a price tag, it’s retail.  If you dug for it in a bin, it’s wholesale.  If you’re still not sure, don’t be afraid to ask!

What if I want to host a pop up or event at your warehouse?

Great!  We love that stuff.  Shoot us an email and we can talk details.

I would like to use some recycled materials from your warehouse to make something.  Can we collaborate?

We’d love to hear about your project.  If it seems like a good fit, we’re in.

I want to get updates about the events you host.

Great!  They're cool and we work hard on them so we want you to know about them.  Sign up for our mailing list at www.dustyrosevintage.com or follow us on social media: INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK, TWITTER
